PHILANTHROPY

The URBAN SPIRIT EDUCATION FOUNDATION works to empower people, communities, families, and individuals by means of the arts. Vested partners engage in humanitarian causes across the globe. Urban-Spirit evokes multidimensional artistic forms to impact social change. Philanthropic thrusts include, but is not limited to, partnership with local & national charitable organizations, an annual art scholarship and benefit, as well as student internships and exhibits.  

 

SPONSORSHIP

In 2008, Urban-Spirit has supported the African-American Male High School Leadership Program, Eastmoor High School Athletic Program, The Girls to Pearls Rites of Passage Program; The Causey Foundation, a National Non-Partisan Voter Registration Drive, a local school supply drive, an annual art supply scholarship, promotion of 7 local non-traditional artists, and the sponsorship of digging two water wells in Africa. Urban-Spirit is a social justice leader among its peers. Artistry reflects passion for service, change, and empowerment. Its members and fellows are committed to Urban-Spirit's fostering ideals.

SCHOLARSHIP

Urban-Spirit offers an annual Art Education scholarship to a qualifying student. 

Donations may be submitted on-line or to P.O. Box 83313 Columbus Ohio 43203 to the attention of the URBAN SPIRIT EDUCATION FOUNDATION. Donors will receive documentation of their tax deductible contribution.

 

ART EDUCATION & STUDENT INTERNSHIPS

The Urban Spirit Education Foundation provides monthly art-education workshops and special events. Typical events include lectures, community luncheons, special projects, and service intiatives. Urban-Spirit Coffee Shop provides annual internship opportunities to youth.  Preferred candidates include those seeking careers in non-profit management, entrepreneurship, accounting, art & design, marketing, and policy leadership. In Summer 2008, Urban-Spirit provided 7 internship placements for Columbus City Schools students, employed 12 individuals directly from the community, and spearheaded a photo-journalism project with 9th grade students from the Ohio Dominican University Charles School.
